Contractor turns love for Linq into an income stream

By J.R. Williams at Linq

Marvin Stephens meets people for a living. He’s a general contractor and electrical subcontractor in Winston-Salem, N.C., and new connections mean new business.

As he kicked off his venture several years ago, he ordered swag: branded T-shirts and 250 paper business cards. Before long, he decided to update the logo. The tagline got a revision, too. Then his office number changed.

“Well, guess what?” he said. “All that’s on every one of those cards. I said, ‘I want to get a digital card. Tap the card. My name’s in there. Hit save.”

He picked up a few Linq Cards. When anything changes, he updates his profile and saves a trip to the printer.

“Everybody thinks it’s pretty cool when I tap my card,” he said. “The other thing I like is if I don’t have my card, I have it in my Apple Wallet. I just pull it up, they scan it, boom.”

People began to ask where they could buy one, and Stephens would point them to linqapp.com. When he learned from an email that the Linq Ambassadors program offers discounts and commissions just for sharing a referral code, he jumped on board.

Stephens prides himself on the integrity he brings to his work and promotes on his website three values that drive his business: Honor, courage, and commitment. Stephens sees it as a win-win.

“We want it to be organic,” he said. “’Hey man, where can I get that card?’ They click on my link, they buy the card, that goes toward my hardware sales.”

Linq Ambassadors is free to join and offers discounts and commission on Linq’s hardware products and software subscriptions.

For every hardware product sold, the buyer receives a 10 percent discount, and the Ambassador receives a 10 percent commission.

If an Ambassador’s product sales reach $1,000 or more in a 30-day period, the commission for that period is 15 percent. The discount remains 10 percent.

For software subscriptions, the buyer receives a 5 percent discount, and the Ambassador receives a 5 percent commission.

Linq provides content like posts and pictures to make it easy to share your referral link or referral code.
